Earlier this week there was a spectacular fight in women's boxing. Twenty-three year old Terri Harper was put to the test in a close match with contender Natasha Jonas (36) who aimed to claim the WBC super featherweight title. Both fighters hail from Britain, Jonas from Liverpool & Harper from Doncaster and they fought to a controversial draw.
The battle displayed women’s pro boxing at its finest with Jonas seemingly on the ropes at the start of the fight, but later regaining her composure to fight back and hurt the opposition with a quick combo which put her in a position which looked to gain her, her first world title at the age of 36 years old.
However, it was not to be as the judges scored the match 96-94 for Harper and 96-95, 95-95 for Jonas, concluding the match in a controversial draw. The two were the first women to fight for a world major title and the fight lived up to the hype and anticipation, proving to be a great advocate & advert for women’s boxing.
